Silicon Valley Code Camp Helper 2015

For 9 years, SVCC has been at Foothill College.  This year, we have had to find a new venue and we are at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose.  We don’t have a lot of time between now and then and need help, paid help.  If you have time and can help, we need you.  The job will last about 10 weeks and will take an average of about 15 hours a week with more closer to the event itself on October 2-4, 2015.

Below is a short list of the types of things you will be working on.  Please only apply (by send email to svccjob@siliconvalley-codecamp.com.  If you are super organized, have great people skills, work well under tight deadlines and most importantly can follow through on many parallel tasks, please apply.

Food

  • – Notification of Pizza and Sandwich vendors of schedule
  • – Providing approximate needed quantities to each vendor based on registration
  • – Scheduling delivery times with vendors
  • – Storing food until needed
  • – Assigning volunteers for food distribution
  • – Install police tape for food lines
  • – Adjusting quantity needed and providing additional amounts to vendors
  • – Policing visitor traffic at entrances and exits
  • – Paying vendors

Coffee and Tea

  • – Notification of coffee vendor of schedule
  • – Providing approximate needed quantities to vendor based on registration
  • – Scheduling delivery times with vendor, morning and after lunch
  • – Setup area for beverages near sponsors
  • – Keeping beverage area clean and tidy
  • – Paying vendor

Ice

  • – Making ice deliveries for for sponsors, morning and afternoon for Sat and Sun
  • – Having clean plastic containers available for sponsors
  • – Providing water for sponsors

Tents

  • – Reservation of tents and delivery to Stuart Rental. This should be done by August 15.
  • – Providing approximate needed quantities
  • – Scheduling delivery times with vendor; Friday afternoon
  • – Have a sponsor site identified
  • – Assist tent setup
  • – Place chairs and tables in tents
  • – Provide power to all tents
  • – Assist tent tear down on Sunday, beginning at 2pm

Power

  • – Provide sufficient power to tents and sponsors
  • – Unpack power cords and power strips, buy more if needed
  • – Provide power cords and power strips to class rooms
  • – Pack power cords and power strips
  • – Rent power generator if needed

Clean Up

  • – Assist in tear down and clean up activities for tents, power, food, ice, coffee.

Help Managing Sponsors

  • Help recruit new sponsors
  • Answer sponsor questions and help arrange logistics

Help Managing Registration

  • Answer attendees questions
  • Help attendees with registration problems

Help Managing Kids

  • Answer Kid Questions
  • Answer Adult Questions
