OData

Peter Kellner and his experienced project staff have been working with OData to provide standards based browser/server data interchange. Look for more and more projects taking advantage of this new technology. Contact Peter.

The Open Data Protocol (OData) is an open protocol for sharing data. OData provides a way to increase the shared value of data by creating an ecosystem in which data consumers can interoperate with data producers.

Many of the building blocks that make up OData are standardized via Atom and AtomPub. The OData specification is available under the Microsoft Open Specification Promise (OSP), allowing third parties, including open source projects, to build OData feeds, clients and services.

Microsoft believes that the Open Data Protocol can help usher in a more open and programmable Web by creating a common way to expose rich data, creating a world of customized mash-ups. Microsoft has released an OData software development kit (SDK) consisting of libraries for PHP, Java, JavaScript, webOS, .NET and the iPhone.
