Silverlight is a Microsoft Platform for developing rich Internet applications on both Windows and Mac computers. It was designed to compete with other multimedia platforms, including Adobe Flash/Flex and to broaden the scope for .NET developers, allowing them to run their .NET programs on the Mac rather than just Windows. It’s been used quite extensively including wide spread content publishing of Entertainment Tonight, Major League Baseball, as well as the 2010 winter Olympics.
